NYC, a week in the life

I was fortunate to be able to visit NYC for a week for work, and you are fortunate because now you get these stunning photos! I flew in to Newark bright and early Monday morning, and made it into the office by 11:30.

The RippleMatch office is in the gorgeous Flatiron district, and it was so fun commuting there and back every day from my nearby hotel in Midtown.

The first night, I took it easy and just ordered in some pizza. On Tuesday, I was able to get dinner with the whole New York based ABM team, which was so much fun! And then finally, on Wednesday, I decided to sight see a bit.

First stop? Chinatown, where my friend Cindy recommended I get boba at Alimama. It didn’t disappoint!

It was by far the fanciest boba I’ve ever had, and the mochi donut was pretty good, too. And those lanterns & lights! So pretty!

After my late night dessert, I decided to take a walk down Canal St and snap some shots of the Brooklyn Bridge. I managed to make it just before sunset, and here was my reward:

Love that bokeh! Even better thanks to my new 50mm 1.8 lens… it’s magical. And the twilight vs night shots of the bridge might be my favourite set of photos I’ve ever taken, ever.

That said…. on Thursday and Friday, Taylor came up and was able to join me for a long weekend in the Big Apple. We took advantage of the CityPass C3 to visit the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock, as well as the Intrepid Air and Space Museum.

Prepare yourself for… the views!!!

Amazing, right!? I’m really glad that we visited both observation decks. While the Empire State Building was a much cooler experience, with an interactive exhibit, the Top of the Rock had better views… of the Empire State Building.

Our last days in NYC was spent at the Intrepid Museum, strolling through Central Park, and eating looooooots of good food. I got Italian, Georgian, Chinese, Belgian, and more! Plus, the best hot chocolate from Bar Piscellino.

And bonus: the entirely anatomically correct eagle plush I purchased at the Air and Space Museum :) You really can find anything in New York!

Hope you enjoyed these stunning photos! Who said work and play can’t be combined? I’ll be heading back to NYC and the Poconos for a work retreat in a few weeks, and then will be glad to chillax in Miami for a while after.

In the past two months, Taylor and I will have taken a total of six trips! So until next time…
