miami beach birthday bash
At last, a new blog post! It hasn’t necessarily been busy these past summer months, but since my last blog I did go back to DC + NYC again after visiting both in March/April. But for July, I can proudly say I stayed in Florida the whole month! First time since… February?
Ever since a trip to NYC a few years ago, I have absolutely loved the Freehand brand of hotels. So for my birthday, I decided to book a staycation at the Generator Miami, one of the two Freehand branded hotels here. (The other was just a few blocks away.)
It was such a beautiful Art Deco hotel! And of course, I made sure it had an #amazing tub. The bathroom was literally bigger than the bedroom.
Maurice had a great time lying on the cool, hard tile. And sleeping in the many corners. And eating his favourite snack: cheese. Speaking of food, Taylor and I had an incredible dinner at the Matador Room, followed by a scrumptious breakfast/brunch at Hoja Taqueria, the Generator’s restaurant.
The potatoes were my favourite, but everything else was pretty good too ;)
After lounging poolside in the back, we had lunch at Piaola, which was at the bottom of yet another hotel.
One other thing we did while stay-cationing in Miami Beach was walk from mid-beach to SoBe, and take in all the historic Art Deco hotels. Here is just a few of the ones we spotted on the way to Lincoln Road.
All in all, a great weekend that was made even better by a dulche de leche cake my mother in law made for me in Fort Myers!
Stay tuned for the next blog, hopefully sooner than this one was :) Starting in August I’ll be jumping back on the travel bandwagon and going to NM, Brazil in September, moving in October, and then a cruise in November/December!
