the fourth trimester recap

I can’t believe Ariadne is almost four months old! Where does the time go!? I last blogged in January, which feels a world away but also not.

And so much has happened! In the past three months, Ariadne met all four of her grandparents, travelled on numerous trains, flew to Dallas, and so much more. She learned to smile in February, how to roll to her back in March, and started rolling both ways in April. I’m looking forward to a laugh very soon! She’s also much more engaged with the world around her, and particularly loves looking at Maurice. (Also rolling— did I mention the rolling? All day, every day, and even sometimes at night.) She’s grown inches longer, and weighs in at almost 13 pounds. My arms are definitely getting a workout!

I also went back to work, and although at the beginning of the year I was looking forward to returning, the days leading up to it made me realize how much I enjoyed my time off and at home. Now, Taylor is wrapping up the bulk of his paternity leave before we look into getting some help during the week.

April 22 is a special day because it was this day last year that we found out we were expecting. And now here we are, a year later, with such a smiley girl! Her approaching four month milestone truly marks the end of the ‘fourth trimester,’ and so I wanted to blog some of my favourite film I’ve taken since her birth photos.

Month 1 :

featured lots of licks by the dog, baby acne, and an early love of tummy time. Also lots of contact naps, watching TV, and listening to vinyl. Shoutout to Arcade Fire, and the song Rococo. Bonus: dressing up for our first train ride!

Month 2 :

dominated by a newfound love of bouncing, the first trip to the beach (and a visit from my cousin!), staring at the mobile, and trying out the play mat.

Month 3:

brought Ariadne’s first Easter feat. adorable bunny ears (after all, she was born in the year of the rabbit), expanding her bassinet into a midi crib, exploring Dallas, and being able to get into tummy time from a back position. We also went to the youth fair and the zoo!

Lastly, some photos from this past weekend… of my almost four month old. Each milestone has been amazing to reach, and I can’t wait for many more to come :)
