a winter weekend photo shoot
Hey there, 2020!
I haven’t blogged for a bit, so Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Taylor and I spent the holidays at home, and it was nice to not travel for once. My parents came over and stayed with us for a week, and we explored Baltimore + DC. It was a good time!
I’m suuuuuper excited for this post, because I’m blogging mine + Taylor’s engagements!
About a month ago, Taylor and I drove down (ok, he drove; I took care of the playlist) to Norfolk to take our engagement photos with the talented Lexie Hand.
I had been hoping to get some gorgeous beach photos, but it being December and all, we decided to sadly skip this. I’m still dreaming of getting the perfect beach shots one day!
Despite not wanting to bear the ocean breeze, it wasn’t a bad weekend to spend in Norfolk. Besides, Taylor and I have had our photos taken professionally in the spring, and summer/fall. I figured it was time to try something a lil new.
And what better time than for our engagement shoot!?
I wanted this shoot to be casual, authentic, really reflective of who we really are & how we really act. So I choose two outfits for our images: one more autumn/wintery, with reddish tones, and one more formal, blue tones, but still cozy. Also, this is the first shoot we’ve done where I’ve been wearing my new Warby Parker frames! So stylish :)
We started off the shoot at our amazing AirBnB location, which had a plethora of unique and beautiful rooms.
I was really surprised by how much light there was!
Then, we wandered around Norfolk for a while, stopping at garage doors, palm trees, and everything else we saw. It got a bit windy, but it was still a lovely time. Lastly, we shot at somewhere we go a lot: a cute coffee shop. In this case, the cafe in question was Commune NFK. So cute! We had an incredible lunch and took a few photos here to finish our shoot.
Lexie was SO friendly and had SUCH AN EYE for getting the perfect shot! I’m in love with alllllll of the images and how authentic they came out.
STUNNING right?
I am so excited to hang these up in our house somewhere, and of course, for our upcoming September wedding (and for Lexie to capture it so beautifully!).
Also we stopped in Richmond on the way back home and got Cracker Barrel!!! It was SO GOOD. :)
All in all, a perfect weekend.
And the perfect late Christmas/NYE present!
