a stormy beach day in miami
Happy 2022! Although Taylor and I have now lived in Miami about two months, we didn’t take a trip to the beach until this past weekend. It was a great way to finish ringing in the new year, after seeing a great fireworks display on New Years Eve (fireworks are legal in FL, so….) and celebrating Maurice’s first birthday on Jan 1.
I had been wanting to go to South Pointe Park ever since I first planned on having our photos taken there. Although we ended up taking them at Matheson Hammock Park instead, I still wanted to visit South Beach and see the views of the Miami skyline. It didn’t disappoint!
It might’ve been a windy and overcast day, but that made for the perfect dramatic photos. Thanks to Bellows Film Lab for being my new developer here in Florida (and a 24 hour turnaround)! See below for our weekend recap, and how much fun Maurice had on his nice long walk.
Taylor refers to Miami as “warm Chicago,” and that last photo above with the tower skyscrapers really solidifies the title. So many tall buildings!
On our walk from the tip of the park to the pier, we spotted tons of wild cats. Maurice wasn’t as intrigued as I thought he’d be, but I loved seeing all the furry kitties walking about. I snapped a few high quality pics if I do say so myself.
As always, a film drop wouldn’t be complete without some portraits, so here’s a collection:
And, last but certainly not least, here are the promised beach shots. Though it was too cold to swim (and we weren’t dressed for it, and the flag for ‘dangerous water’ and ‘marine life present’ were flying), it was still a nice walk. Amazed that anyone was in the water, but so it goes! Maurice loved digging in the sand, so it was a perfect day all around.
The skyline + beach shots will be available in the print shop, so if you want a print or two stop by!
